If swim shorts could speak, they would tell you many interesting stories - stories about travels around the world, about adventures riding the naughty waves down under, about jumps off the rim of a cliff, romantic moments under tropic waterfalls, kayak trips, beaches kissed by the sun...
Swim shorts are amazing treasure-keepers. Neli Parchik of Rebel Swim makes the most of this idea - she knows that swim shorts not only keep stories about the past, but they can be an effective way to adopt the future.
Leaving the corporate world an year ago, Neli embraced the idea of building her own sustainable business in the fashion industry. Led by her desire to make a change in the world, she took off making swim shorts with a cause. Her life made a move to a start-up company targeting a global issue - endangered animal species.
Neli’s prodigy Rebel Swim tries to sway people’s reckless attitude towards nature and animals by drawing wearers into a world-changing cause. Buying a pair of these custom-made Rebel shorts one contributes to the efforts of five grassroots (and not corporate) environmental organisations. These were meticulously selected by Neli for targeting and dealing with specific problems rather than busy with corporate agendas. Thus, every $30 of the purchase goes directly for one of these causes - the Maldives whale shark, the Sumatran tiger, the panda, the Maui dolphin and the Galapagos penguin.
The fabric for the swimsuits is produced in France and the final product is tailored in Bulgaria, famous for its top-quality garment manufacturing. Neli aims at creating a product that does the job – a useful and feasible product that associates with the user’s attitude to nature, as well as bringing value.
